Who We Are

St. Margaret Mary is a Roman Catholic Parish in Naperville, Illinois, right on the border of Naperville and Lisle. We are known for the many opportunities we provide to learn about our faith and to become more faithful followers of Christ. Please come and experience our prayerful celebrations of the Mass, our thoughtful and challenging educational activities for all ages, or our many opportunities to serve our community. We especially welcome newcomers to our local area, and those curious about the Catholic faith. We hope our parish can give you nourishment for your personal journey, and can help you to grow in love for God and for all God´s people.

Parish With Heart

In our early years, our parish developed a simple phrase to express our intentions: to be a "parish with heart," remembering our patroness, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, who met our Lord Jesus in the Sacred Heart. Our parish strives to be a parish with:
  • a heart open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, who leads us in a journey of transformation;
  • a heart filled with the compassion of Jesus, to be a blessing for our neighbors and for the poor;
  • a heart open to God´s call to repentence and to forgiveness, both acknowledging our failings, and pardoning the failures of others;
  • a heart filled with courage when we encounter resistance to the Gospel, within ourselves and within our world;
  • a heart open to the Word of God, spoken to our ancestors in faith as revealed in the Bible, and still spoken to us today;
  • a heart filled with joy that God has invited us to join in God´s mission in the world.

Hearts On Fire!

We are a mission-focused parish.
Being a mission-focused parish means that we believe God has called our parish into existence to serve God’s purpose. Because of this we seek to order the life of our parish in response to God’s call for us. We believe that God has given our parish a unique call that has not been given to any other parish; and because of this it is our primary task to discern this calling and to order the life of our parish in response to it. Our Leadership Community (consisting of our parish council, pastoral staff, and our pastor) are committed to a regular discipline of theological reflection in our effort to discern God’s calling for us.

Encounter Jesus
We live in a time of uncertainty about the future of Catholic parish life we have known. Religion no longer holds a special place for many in our Naperville/Lisle Community and we can no longer make assumptions about what our parishioners believe. At the same time we sense a deep hunger for the eternal truths of the Gospel not solely focused on rules, laws and prohibitions. As followers of Jesus the Christ and members of the Catholic Church, we believe we are called to new and full lives that include a personal, active, genuine encounter with Jesus, Our Lord. We believe these energized relationships will allow us to empower others to follow Jesus in a purposeful way.

Embrace His Kingdom
We do not always see the needs of others and engage these needs with an active faith life. The response to Pope Francis has shown us that there is a longing for an authentic Gospel-based Christianity grounded in love, forgiveness and mercy. As followers of Jesus the Christ and members of the Catholic Church, we are called to live authentic Christian lives committed to God’s Kingdom; demonstrating the principles of love, forgiveness and mercy. We believe that living this way begins with our fellow parishioners and extends to the entire world.
